How to prepare your store for the festive season

Festive season is when many Indian stores make their year — if they're ready. Here's a practical checklist to prep your store for the rush: stock, offers, speed, and support.

The festive rush rewards the ready

For many Indian stores, the festive season brings a big share of the year's sales. Diwali and the weeks around it turn browsers into buyers. But the rush only pays off if you're ready for it. A store that prepares stock, offers, speed, and support wins; one that scrambles loses sales it can't get back. Here's the checklist.

    Plan stock early

Nothing kills a festive sale like being out of stock. Look at last year and your bestsellers, and order early — suppliers and couriers get slammed as the season peaks. Better to hold a little extra of a proven winner than to sell out on your busiest day. Plan weeks ahead, not days.

    Prepare your offers in advance

Decide your festive offers before the rush, not during it. A clear discount, a bundle, a free-shipping threshold, a countdown on a hero product. Set them up early and test that they work. Scrambling to launch an offer mid-rush is how mistakes and lost sales happen.

Make sure your store can take the traffic

A festive spike means more visitors at once. Check your store loads fast on a phone, your checkout works smoothly, and your payment methods — UPI, cards, COD — are all live. A slow or broken checkout during your biggest week is the most expensive failure there is.

    Get delivery and COD ready

More orders mean more shipping and more returns. Confirm your courier can handle the volume and reach your pincodes. Tighten your COD controls, because festive impulse buying brings festive returns. Set delivery expectations honestly, so a late parcel doesn't become an angry review at your peak.

Warm up your customers before the peak

Don't wait for the season to start selling. Build your email and social audience in the weeks before, tease what's coming, and grow your list. When the rush hits, you want an audience ready to buy, not one you're meeting for the very first time.

Plan for support and returns after

The season doesn't end at the sale. Be ready for the wave of questions, delivery chases, and returns that follow. Good, fast support during and after the rush turns one-time festive buyers into customers who come back next year. Plan the after, not just the sale.

    Where your store helps

The Storemate helps you get festive-ready — promotions and countdown banners for your offers, a fast mobile checkout with UPI and COD, pincode-level COD controls for the returns, and email flows to warm your audience before the peak. Set it up early, and the rush becomes revenue instead of chaos.
