The sale is the start, not the end
Too many stores go silent the moment an order is placed. That's a missed chance. The period right after a purchase is when a customer is most engaged with you. A good post-purchase sequence keeps them informed, earns a review, and sets up the next order - turning one sale into a relationship.
First, confirm and reassure
Right after the order, send a clear confirmation: what they bought, what it cost, and when it'll arrive. Then keep them posted through delivery. This isn't marketing, it's reassurance, and it cuts anxious "where's my order?" messages. Trust built here makes every later email land better.
Ask for a review at the right moment
Wait until the product has arrived and been used - a few days after delivery, not before. Then ask simply for a review or rating. Reviews are gold: they build trust for the next buyer and give you honest feedback. Timing is everything; ask too early and you get silence or a bad score.
Invite the next order, gently
Once they're happy, suggest what pairs well with what they bought, or offer a small thank-you on their next order. This is where repeat revenue lives. Keep it relevant - a good recommendation feels helpful, a random one feels like spam.
Turn a good experience into a referral
A happy customer is your cheapest marketing. In the post-purchase flow, invite them to share your store or refer a friend, ideally with a reward for both sides. People trust a friend's recommendation more than any ad you could run, so make the ask easy.
Why repeat buyers matter so much
Winning a new customer costs far more than keeping one. A strong post-purchase flow lifts repeat rate, and repeat customers spend more over time. This quiet sequence is one of the highest-return things a small store can run, precisely because it works on customers you already have.
Where your store helps
The Storemate's post-purchase flow runs on the order-placed trigger, sending confirmation, review requests, and follow-ups by email automatically. Pair it with the built-in loyalty and referral tools, and one order can lead to a review, a repeat, and a referral - all on autopilot.
